Tetris is the iconic puzzle game created by Alexey Pajitnov in 1985. Players arrange falling tetrominoes — shapes made of four blocks — to complete horizontal lines. Completed lines disappear, earning points and preventing the stack from reaching the top of the playing field. The game progressively speeds up, testing reflexes and spatial reasoning.
Seven unique tetromino shapes (I, O, T, S, Z, J, L) fall from the top of a 10-wide, 20-tall grid. Use arrow keys or on-screen buttons to move pieces left, right, or down, and rotate them to fit together. Clearing four lines at once — called a Tetris — scores the most points. Every 10 lines cleared advances you to the next level, increasing the drop speed. The game ends when a new piece cannot enter the field.
Use arrow keys to move and rotate falling blocks. Complete horizontal lines to clear them and score points. The game speeds up as you level up. On mobile, use the on-screen buttons to control pieces.
Yes! This Tetris game is completely free to play online with no downloads or sign-ups required. It works on desktop and mobile browsers.
In competitive NES Tetris, top players have achieved scores exceeding 1.6 million points. In this version, scores above 100,000 earn the Tetris God rating. Your score depends on the lines you clear, with Tetrises (4 lines) giving the most points.
