Spaceship Builder is a free browser-based ship designer that lets you create custom spacecraft from modular components. Choose a hull class, snap engines, weapons, shields, and utilities onto a building grid, then test your creation in a simulated flight through an asteroid field. Every design choice affects your ship's performance stats in real time.
Yes! You can save up to 5 ship designs in your local hangar. Ships are stored in your browser's localStorage so they persist between sessions. You can also export a shareable text code to send your design to friends.
It depends on your hull class. Fighters support up to 8 modules, Corvettes up to 16, Cruisers up to 18, Freighters up to 24, and Capital ships up to 32 modules. Larger ships give you more room to specialize.
The test flight runs a brief animated simulation where your ship flies through an asteroid field. Your ship's speed is calculated from its engine thrust versus total mass, and defense determines how much damage you can absorb. You'll receive a grade from S to D based on distance traveled and obstacles dodged.
