Space Colony Builder is a free browser-based management simulation where you construct and maintain a space station module by module. Balance critical resources like oxygen, power, food, water, and crew morale while expanding your colony and surviving random cosmic events. Start with a tiny command pod and grow into a thriving orbital habitat.
Begin with a command pod and solar panel. Each day your crew consumes oxygen, food, and water. Place new modules — greenhouses, living quarters, labs, water recyclers — on adjacent grid cells to produce resources and expand capacity. Random events like meteor showers and solar flares will test your planning. Reach 20 crew members with all resources stable to win.
A space colony would need self-sustaining life support systems including oxygen generation, water recycling, food production through greenhouses, and reliable power from solar arrays. Crew morale and health management are also critical for long-term survival in the harsh environment of space.
Astronauts need a continuous supply of oxygen, clean water, nutritious food, stable power for all systems, and mental health support. Radiation shielding, temperature regulation, and waste management are also essential components of any space habitat.
On the International Space Station, oxygen is primarily generated through electrolysis — splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity. In a space colony, greenhouses with plants would supplement this by converting CO2 to oxygen through photosynthesis.
