Ragdoll Playground — Free Online Physics Sandbox

What Is Ragdoll Playground?

Ragdoll Playground is a free browser-based physics sandbox where you fling ragdoll characters through obstacle courses, trampolines, fans, cannons, and spike traps. Every launch creates unique, hilarious results thanks to realistic ragdoll physics powered by verlet integration. Build your own contraptions in sandbox mode or try the five pre-built scenes for instant chaos.

How It Works

The game simulates ragdoll characters as connected body segments—head, torso, upper arms, lower arms, upper legs, and lower legs—linked by constrained joints. Drag any body part to fling the ragdoll. Gravity, collisions, and environmental objects like trampolines and fans create emergent, unpredictable motion. Place objects from the toolbar to build custom courses, or load a pre-built scene. Distance and height are tracked so you can chase records.

What is ragdoll physics?

Ragdoll physics is a procedural animation technique where a character's body is simulated as a set of rigid segments connected by joints with constraints. Instead of playing pre-made animations, the body reacts realistically to forces like gravity, collisions, and impacts, creating unique and often hilarious results every time.

How do ragdoll games work?

Ragdoll games use verlet integration or similar physics engines to simulate connected body parts. Each limb has mass, length constraints, and joint angle limits. When forces are applied the physics engine calculates how each body part moves and interacts with the environment in real time.

Why are ragdoll games so popular?

Ragdoll games are popular because they combine emergent gameplay with comedy. Every launch produces unique, unpredictable results. The physics-based movement creates naturally funny situations that feel satisfying to watch, and the sandbox nature lets players experiment endlessly.
