What Is Music Producer?

Music Producer is a free, browser-based beat-making studio that lets you create multi-track music using drums, bass, melody, and FX sounds. Built entirely with the Web Audio API, it runs in any modern browser with no downloads, plugins, or signup required. The DAW-inspired interface features a 16-step sequencer, per-track volume and mute controls, master effects (reverb, delay, filter), and a real-time waveform visualizer. Whether you're sketching ideas, learning music production, or just having fun, this tool puts a complete beat-making workflow at your fingertips.

The 808 drum machine, released in 1980 for $1,195, was initially a commercial failure but became the most influential drum machine in music history.

How It Works

1. Choose Your Sounds

Four tracks give you a full palette: Drums (kick, snare, hi-hat, clap), Bass (8 different synth bass tones), Melody (a one-octave keyboard mapped to your A-L keys), and FX (risers, drops, and scratches). Every sound is synthesized in real-time.

2. Program the Grid

Click cells in the 16-step sequencer to build patterns. Each track has its own rows and color coding — red for drums, blue for bass, purple for melody, green for FX. The sweeping playhead shows your position in the loop.

3. Shape Your Sound

Adjust the BPM (60-180), use the Tap Tempo button to dial in your groove, and sculpt the mix with per-track volume and mute controls. Apply master reverb, delay, and a sweepable filter to give your beat depth and character.

4. Save & Share

Store up to 4 patterns in your browser's local storage. Hit Share to copy a link so your friends can check out what you've made.
