What Is Idle Railway?
Idle Railway is a free browser-based train tycoon idle game. Lay tracks, connect cities, dispatch trains, and watch your railway empire grow — even while you're away. Upgrade stations, improve your rolling stock, and expand across diverse terrain including mountains and rivers.

How It Works
Start with a single route between two cities. Trains run automatically, generating revenue based on city population and train capacity. Click the map to dispatch bonus trains for extra income. Use revenue to unlock new routes, upgrade stations (Platform, Ticket Office, Cargo Depot, Luxury Lounge), and improve trains (Speed, Capacity, Reliability). Build across rivers with bridges and through mountains with tunnels. Trigger Franchise Expansion at major milestones for permanent bonuses.
Does my railway earn offline?
Yes! Your trains keep running for up to 12 hours while you're away. When you return, you'll collect all the revenue your network earned automatically. The more trains and stations you have, the more you earn offline.
How do I connect new cities?
Tap the 'Build Track' button in the Routes tab to expand your railway to the next city. Each city has a population that determines passenger demand — bigger cities mean more revenue. You may need to build bridges or tunnels depending on terrain.
What does prestige (Franchise Expansion) do?
When you reach a major revenue milestone, you can trigger a Franchise Expansion. This resets your railway but grants permanent Rail Points that boost all future income, speed, and capacity. Each prestige makes your next run significantly faster and more profitable.
