How Rich Are You? is a free online global income comparison tool that shows where your earnings rank among 8 billion people worldwide. Enter your annual income and country, and instantly see your global wealth percentile with striking visualizations. Most people in developed countries are surprised to learn they rank far higher than they expected.
Enter your annual income and select your country. The tool converts your earnings using purchasing-power adjustments, then compares your income against the global distribution. You see your exact percentile — what percentage of the world earns less than you — along with visualizations showing how many people are above and below your income level. The results include context about global median income and regional comparisons.
If you earn more than $35,000 USD per year, you are likely in the top 1% of global income earners. Even a $15,000 annual income places you above roughly 85% of the world's population.
Global median income is approximately $3,920 per year. An income of $12,000 places you in the top 15% globally, while $50,000 or more puts you firmly in the global top 1%. Perceptions of wealth vary dramatically by country.
The calculator uses purchasing-power-adjusted income data from the World Bank and similar sources. Your income is compared against the global income distribution of roughly 8 billion people to determine what percentage of the world earns less than you.
