What Is Cribbage?

Cribbage is a free online card game where you play the classic two-player card game against an AI opponent. Cribbage was invented by Sir John Suckling in the 17th century and remains one of the most popular two-player card games worldwide. Deal, discard to the crib, peg points during play, and count your hand to race to 121 points on the cribbage board.

How It Works

Each round, both players are dealt 6 cards and discard 2 to the crib (which belongs to the dealer). A cut card is revealed. Players then alternate playing cards in the pegging phase, scoring points for 15s, pairs, runs, and reaching 31. After pegging, hands are counted for 15s, pairs, runs, flushes, and nobs. First to 121 wins!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you count points in Cribbage?

Points come from combinations: 15s (2pts each), pairs (2pts), runs (1pt per card), flushes (4-5pts), and nobs (1pt for jack of cut suit).

What is the best hand in Cribbage?

The best possible hand is 29 points: three 5s and the Jack of the same suit as the cut card (which is also a 5).

How does pegging work?

Players alternate playing cards, trying to reach exactly 31 or as close as possible. Points for pairs, runs, reaching 15, reaching 31, and last card.
